Abstract

I have always liked birthdays. Not for the cake - although that helps - but for what happens just before the candles are blown out. There is usually a pause. People gather a little closer. Someone starts telling a story: “Do you remember when…?” And for a moment, time  stretches. You are not only celebrating a number, but a life.
